Despite moving onto the Miami Dolphins, Joey Porter took it upon himself to allegedly get into a fight with Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Levi Jones. Porter and Jones got into it in Las Vegas after trash-talking at a blackjack table. While people might find this behavior to be barbaric, I look at it as refreshing. I didn’t realize this still happened in these times. I’m happy to see that players still care enough to attack each other away from the game (perhaps, an over the top statement, but you know what I mean…I think).
It seems fitting of something the Steelers and Raiders would get involved with back in the 70s. Raiders safety George Atkinson knocked out Lynn Swann during the 1975 AFC Championship game. The Raider safety followed that up with a forearm shiver in a 1976 regular season game (you’ll see that hit at the 2:40; the other hit from the ’75 title game is at 1:42). Steelers head coach Chuck Noll had enough and referred to Atkinson as a part of the “criminal element” in the NFL.
